Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. is a pathogen of about 500 plant species. In a laboratory screening bioassay, methanolic extracts of 15?mg?mL?1 concentrations of different parts of Coronopus didymus (L.) Sm. (Brassicaceae) namely leaf, stem, inflorescence and root reduced the biomass of S. rolfsii by 67%, 26%, 40% and 58%, respectively. Methanolic root extract was successively fractionated with n-hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate and n-butanol. All the concentrations (3.125-200?mg?mL?1) of ethyl acetate fraction completely inhibited the target fungal growth. Two compounds A and B were separated from this fraction by Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC). TLC fraction A was found highly effective against S. rolfsii with MIC value 15.62?μg?mL?1 as compared to MIC value 7.81?μg?mL?1 of the commercial fungicide mencozeb. This compound may be used for the synthesis of natural product based fungicide for the control of S. rolfsii.  相似文献

Reversible phosphorylation of proteins is a common theme in the regulation of important cellular functions such as growth, metabolism, and differentiation. The comprehensive understanding of biological processes requires the characterization of protein phosphorylation at the molecular level. Although, the number of cellular phosphoproteins is relatively high, the phosphorylated residues themselves are generally of low abundance due to the sub-stoichiometric nature. However, low abundance of phosphopeptides and low degree of phosphorylation typically necessitates isolation and concentration of phosphopeptides prior to mass spectrometric analysis. In this study, we used trivalent lanthanide ions (LaCl(3), CeCl(3), EuCl(3), TbCl(3), HoCl(3), ErCl(3), and TmCl(3)) for phosphopeptide enrichment and cleaning-up. Due to their low solubility product, lanthanide ions form stable complexes with the phosphate groups of phosphopeptides and precipitate out of solution. In a further step, non-phosphorylated compounds can easily be removed by simple centrifugation and washing before mass spectrometric analysis using Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionisation-time of flight. The precipitation method was applied for the isolation of phosphopeptides from standard proteins such as ovalbumin, α-casein, and β-casein. High enrichment of phosphopeptides could also be achieved for real samples such as fresh milk and egg white. The technology presented here represents an excellent and highly selective tool for phosphopeptide recovery; it is easily applicable and shows several advantages as compared with standard approaches such as TiO(2) or IMAC.  相似文献

ABSTRACT: The optimization processes of photo degradation are complicated and expensive when it is performed with traditional methods such as one variable at a time. In this research, the condition of ortho-cresol (o-cresol) photo degradation was optimized by using a semi empirical method. First of all, the experiments were designed with four effective factors including irradiation time, pH, photo catalyst's amount, o-cresol concentration and photo degradation % as response by response surface methodology (RSM). The RSM used central composite design (CCD) method consists of 30 runs to obtain the actual responses. The actual responses were fitted with the second order algebraic polynomial equation to select a model (suggested model). The suggested model was validated by a few numbers of excellent statistical evidences in analysis of variance (ANOVA). The used evidences include high Fvalue (143.12), very low P-value (<0.0001), non-significant lack of fit, the determination coefficient (R2 = 0.99) and the adequate precision (47.067). To visualize the optimum, the validated model simulated the condition of variables and response (photo degradation %) by a few number of three dimensional plots (3D). To confirm the model, the optimums were performed in laboratory. The results of performed experiments were quite close to the predicted values. In conclusion, the study indicated that the model is successful to simulate the optimum condition of o-cresol photo degradation under visible-light irradiation by manganese doped ZnO nanoparticles.  相似文献

Phthaloyl chitosan (PhCh) has been synthesized by reacting excess phthalic anhydride with chitosan in the presence of nitrogen gas (N2). Confirmation of phthaloyl chitosan structure by Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy shows bands at 1773 and 1713 cm? 1 attributable to the pthalimido group. From X-ray diffraction (XRD), the samples are largely amorphous. Thermal stability of chitosan is increased on phthaloylation. Ammonium thiocyanate (NH4SCN) salt has been added to the solution of phthaloyl chitosan in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) before casting to form films. The amount of NH4SCN salt added ranges from 5 to 50 wt. % concentration. The highest conductivity at 298 K is (2.42 ± 0.01) × 10? 5 S cm? 1 for the sample 70 wt. % PhCh-30 wt. % NH4SCN. Impedance of the films has been measured at temperatures between 298 K and 373 K and in the frequency range from 0.1 Hz to 1 × 107 Hz. Relaxation peaks are observed from dielectric loss and tangent delta variation with frequency at ambient and elevated temperatures in the frequency range investigated for the highest conducting sample. Decomposition voltage is ~ 2.07 V and transference number measurements show that charge conduction is mainly by ions.  相似文献

The work is motivated by a result of Manin in [1], which relates the Arakelov Green’s function on a compact Riemann surface to configurations of geodesics in a 3-dimensional hyperbolic handlebody with Schottky uniformization, having the Riemann surface as a conformal boundary at infinity. A natural question is to what extent the result of Manin can be generalized to cases where, instead of dealing with a single Riemann surface, one has several Riemann surfaces whose union is the boundary of a hyperbolic 3-manifold, uniformized no longer by a Schottky group, but by a Fuchsian, quasi-Fuchsian, or more general Kleinian group. We have considered this question in this work and obtained several partial results that contribute towards constructing an analog of Manin’s result in this more general context.  相似文献

A new ammonia adduct of a N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) has been isolated, which can be used as a reagent for the synthesis of transition metal carbene complexes. A new europium complex [Eu(Pic)2(H2O)(EO4)](Pic)·0.75H2O was synthesized and used as the emission material for the single layer device structure of ITO/EO4–Eu–Pic/Al, using a spin-coating technique. Study on the optical properties of the [Eu(Pic)2(H2O)(EO4)](Pic)·0.75H2O complex where EO4=tetraethylene glycol and Pic=picrate anion, had to be undertaken before being applicable to the study of an organic light emitting diode (OLED). The electrical property of an OLED using current–voltage (IV) measurement was also studied. In complex, the Eu(III) ion was coordinated with the EO4 ligand as a pentadentate mode, one water molecule, and with two Pic anions as bidentate and monodentate modes, forming a nine-coordination number. The photoluminescence (PL) spectra of the crystalline complex in the solid state and its thin film showed a hypersensitive peak at 613.5–614.9 nm that assigned to the 5D07F2 transition. A narrow band emission from the thin film EO4–Eu–Pic was obtained. The typical semiconductor IV curve of device ITO/EO4–Eu–Pic/Al showed the threshold and turn on voltages at 1.08 and 4.6 V, respectively. The energy transfer process from the ligand to the Eu(III) ion was discussed by investigating the excitation and PL characteristics. Effect of the picrate anion on the device performance was also studied.  相似文献

There are very few quantitative assays to measure the activity of antifreeze proteins (AFPs, or Ice Structuring Proteins, ISPs) and these can be prone to various inaccuracies and inconsistencies. Some methods rely only on unassisted visual assessment. When microscopy is used to measure ice crystal size, it is critical that standardized procedures be adopted, especially when image analysis software is used to quantify sizes. Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) has been used to measure the thermal hysteresis activity (TH) of AFPs. In this study, DSC was used isothermally to measure enthalpic changes associated with structural rearrangements as a function of time. Differences in slopes of isothermal heat flow vs. time between winter wheat ISP or AFP type I containing samples, and those without ISP or AFP type I were demonstrated. ISP or AFP type I containing samples had significantly higher slopes compared to those without ISP or AFP type I. Samples with higher concentration of ISP or AFP type I showed higher slope values during the first hour and took up to 3 hr to attain equilibrium. Differences were attributed to activity of the proteins at the ice interface. Proteinaceous activity of ISPs or AFP type I was confirmed by loss of activity after treatment with protease.  相似文献

Crystal size distribution as a function of power in ultrasound ablation is simulated by using a theoretical method based on population and radius of bubbles. In this method, population and radius of bubbles are related to ultrasound power and Debye temperature of crystals. The best power for production of crystals with uniform size is obtained from the theory. In addition, it is shown that the population of bubbles effects the radius of the productions and the radius of bubbles influences the population of products. Indiscriminate use of antibiotics has led to a rapid increase of antibiotic resistance among microbes which has increased the need to develop novel antimicrobial agents to fight various infectious diseases. Peptide antibiotics signify a novel class of therapeutic agents and have been isolated from a wide variety of multi-cellular organisms. Peptide antibiotics have shown broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity and they not only kill different bacteria, but also kill various fungi, parasites, protozoans and cancerous cells. Peptides bear several properties that make them particularly attractive such as their small size, rapid activity and a low chance for development of resistance. Because of these distinct properties, the focus for research on antimicrobial peptides has increased tremendously in the recent years. Despite their potential, only selected cationic antimicrobial peptides have been able to enter in clinical trials. Therefore, there is a pressing need to develop new approaches to identify novel antimicrobial peptide therapeutics replacing conventional antibiotics. Recent findings strongly suggest that one can design a new generation of antimicrobials peptides with a wide range of systemic and topical applications against bacterial infections. In this review, we focus on the identification and design of novel antimicrobial peptides for therapeutic applications based on different approaches and strategies. This review also highlights some recent advances in the study of the molecular basis of anti-microbial activity in these peptides, their current pharmacological and clinical development and future directions and applications.  相似文献
